OK, I hate starting the weekend with *** news. But we do have it here in East Oak Lane. 15 car have been broken into. This has happened over the last 2 weeks in our neighborhood. These are the only the ones that have been reported. I have had (2) neighbors tell me that they did not report theirs.

Here's the latest one I received this morning

"Hi everyone, This is just an FYI. Last evening between 9 and 9:30PM someone broke into 2 of our vehicles which were parked in the driveway. Both have alarms which did not go off. They managed to unlock the doors without breaking anything and stole an IPod and some cash which were in the glove compartments"

I spoke with the community officer and she told me last Saturday that out of the 13 that had happened that week, only (2) were the glass broken. The others were either the door was left unlocked or its a mystery. The HOT TICKET ITEMS
  • GPS Units (They are breaking in, if you only have the cradle in the window...)
  • Cell Phones
  • MP-3 Players
  • Laptops
  • Tools
  • Anything ....

WHAT CAN BE DONE:mencrossafterii.jpg

A passive community is a community to be preyed upon

  1. Report Suspicious Activity to the Police: One neighbor reported a car "creeping" around the same time every evening past their home. REPORT IT to the Police and to www.EASTOAKLANE.net we will get the word out
  • Mobilize the Town Watch (Eyes and Ears) We have talked about (quadrant 4) and even had a meeting, but I think it is time to have another gathering to mobilize for the Summer

  • Tell a Neighbor to Register at www.EastOakLane.net   so they can report activity immediately and be informed

WE MUST STAY CONNECTED AND INFORMED.

Don't take ANY ACTIVITY FOR GRANTED. A lot of times, we see some man or a group that looks out of place in our community and we let it go.  Only to find out (sometimes) that there was a break in or a Rape attempt (2007) by the very person or car that we saw but did not report.  That is with THIS WEBSITE was designed.  That East Oak Lane residents could ALERT action_alerts.jpg the whole community when there was an action happening.  This is YOUR COMMUNITY WEBSITE, inform the whole community.
